 University of West Alabama - Dr. Robert B. Gilbert Hall

Livingston, Alabama

Amason is currently serving as general contractor for construction of Gilbert Hall a new dormitory project at the University of West Alabama. This much anticipated dormitory will allow UWA to replace several older dormitories with a modern facility. Gilbert Hall will provide 459 new beds for the university bringing their on campus housing total to 990 student beds. The scope of work for this project includes construction of the wood framed 4-story building, and all site work, landscaping and hardscaping for the approximately 14 acre site.   

Buhl Elementary School

Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Amason is currently serving as Construction Manager for this addition and renovation project for Buhl Elementary. The original school was constructed as a WPA project under President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s administration and has since been expanded twice. The scope of our work will include managing the construction of a new library, cafeteria, administrative offices, classrooms and a new gymnasium. Upon completion, the original wooden structure will be demolished and new parking lot and school bus drop-off area constructed.

New Headquarters & Lab for the Alabama Department of

Forensic Sciences

Auburn, Alabama

Amason is currently serving as general contractor for the new headquarters of the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and its Auburn Laboratory in Auburn, Alabama.  This 29,500 square-foot, two-story building includes specialized laboratories, instrument rooms, conference rooms, and various administrative offices.  In addition, because the ADFS provides scientific assistance to State law enforcement agencies, the building contains an extensive, state-of-the-art security system as well as interior and exterior video surveillance.  We will also construct new parking areas for the facility and complete all landscaping and hardscaping. 

University of West Alabama - Hoover Apartments

Livingston, Alabama

Amason is currently serving as general contractor for a new dormitory construction project at the University of West Alabama. The scope of work for this project includes both new construction as well as renovations to existing buildings. With respect to new construction, we will build three new apartment-style dormitories, which will provide housing for 96 students. In addition, we will also renovate two existing dormitories, which accommodate 32 students, construct new parking lots, sidewalks, and a pedestrian bridge.

Steel Dust Recycling, LLC - Kiln 2 Expansion Project

Millport, Alabama

Amason is currently serving as a Design-Build Contractor for an addition to the Steel Dust Recycling facility in Millport, AL. Steel Dust Recycling, LLC or SDR is the first plant in North America built from the ground up for the sole purpose of recycling KO61 steel dust. SDR utilizes the Waeltz Kiln technology to extract zinc and other iron rich material from steel dust generated from the steel manufacturing process. The KO61 material is considered hazardous by the Environmental Protection Agency. Due to the demand of eliminating the steel dust from landfills and providing useful products, SDR is currently in the process of adding a second kiln line and associated systems.

Courtyard by Marriott

Columbus, Mississippi

Amason will serve as the construction manager for this 110 room, three-story hotel in Columbus, Mississippi.  The design of the hotel is based on the latest Courtyard prototype and will offer guests an indoor pool, conference center, fitness area, and full service kitchen.   Located at Moore’s Creek Crossing, an 12-acre business park for which Amason is also serving as construction manager, this Courtyard will occupy one of two hotel sites.
